Compressed air can be beneficial for a lot of things, and if you need an air compressor but do not have one, you may want to consider getting one from an air compressor rental or equipment rental company.

Air Compressor Size

When you are considering an air compressor rental, you need to know how large or small a compressor you will need for the job you are doing. If you are using a paint sprayer to put some stain or paint on your house or deck, you will need a smaller compressor than if you are trying to run a jackhammer to break up old concrete.

The tool you are using will have a rating on it that specifics the CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air required to operate the tool properly. The compressor you rent needs to be able to provide the proper CFM confidentially. If you are using a sprayer and the CFM fluctuates, the paint or stain coming out of the sprayer will not be consistent, and the coverage will look bad.

The same is true if you are using a large compressor to run that jackhammer. Inconsistent air volume will mean the jackhammer will not perform the away it is intended and may not do the job you need it to do. If you are not sure how large a compressor you need, talk to the rental company about the job you are going to do with the compressor and the tools you need to operate.

The rental company can help you select the right air compressor and can often rent you the tools you need to go with the air compressor rental.

Gas or Electric

Another consideration is where you are going to use the compressor. If you are working at home in an area that you can plug in an electric compressor, it can be far less complicated to use. Most small compressors that you would use to spray paint or run some pneumatic tools will operate fine on these electric compressors, so they're a good option for most situations.

Larger compressors that are used for large jobs often use a gasoline or diesel engine to run the compressor and are mounted on a trailer that makes them easier to move around. If you are working in an area that does not have power to it, you will need to consider a compressor that uses this configuration. If you only need a small, portable compressor, but you are away from a power source, talk to the air compressor rental company about getting a small gasoline-powered compressor that is easier to manage.
